Em 2014, Phil estava participando de sua cirurgia local de médicos depois de receber uma queimadura de sua chaleira. Depois de ser enviado ao Blackpool Teaching Hospital, descobriu -se que ele havia sofrido um ataque cardíaco. Durante seu tempo como paciente aqui, ele recebeu um desvio de coração em nossa unidade cardíaca. Graças às equipes cardíacas incríveis, Phil fez uma recuperação completa e estava de pé em pouco tempo! Foi quando ele encontrou o departamento de serviços voluntários. Isso foi há 7 anos, Phil é um voluntário leal desde então! Ele faz várias funções aqui na confiança e está sempre feliz em ajudar. O papel de Phil como mentor de saúde o vê na área de espera cardíaca e nas enfermarias que fornecem aos pacientes e visitantes informações sobre como viver um estilo de vida saudável, ele ajuda as pessoas a acessar serviços no hospital e na comunidade local, esse é um papel desafiador que Phil prospera, ele é muito experiente e conhecedor. Phil também é voluntário em nosso muito ocupado departamento de emergência; Ele fornece aos pacientes refrescos dentro da unidade e sempre tem um sorriso ou piada pronta para eles. Ele é um personagem real e os funcionários e os pacientes desfrutam de suas travessuras. Seu trabalho com céu azul o vê em muitos eventos e ele está sempre disponível quando necessário. Não posso cantar seus louvores o suficiente; Ele é um voluntário maravilhoso. Ele tem sido meu homem direito e eu sei que posso confiar nele. Ele até irá a eventos ou verificará apresentações em meu nome, e eu sei que elas estarão em boas mãos. Phil faz muito esforço, mesmo fazendo aquecimentos para nós na corrida dos elfos e ele tem uma maneira adorável com todos os nossos apoiadores. When he pulled into the car park, he found himself with an agonising pain in his chest. After being sent to Blackpool Teaching hospital, it was discovered he had suffered a heart attack. During his time as a patient here, he received a heart bypass in our cardiac unit. Thanks to the cardiac teams amazing work, Phil made a full recovery and was back on his feet in no time!
After receiving treatment here, Phil wanted to say thanks and give back to the hospital. This is when he found the Voluntary services department. That was 7 years ago, Phil has been a loyal volunteer ever since!

Phil is a much loved and valued member of the Volunteer Team. He does multiple roles here in the Trust and is always happy to help. Phil’s role as a Health Mentor sees him in both the Cardiac Waiting Area and Wards providing patients and visitors with information on how to live a healthy lifestyle, he assists individuals to access services within the Hospital and their local community, this is a challenging role Phil thrives in, he is very experienced and knowledgeable. Phil also volunteers in our very busy Emergency Department; he provides the patients with refreshments within the Unit and always has a smile or joke ready for them. He is a real character and both staff and patients enjoy his antics.
I thoroughly love working with Phil, he brings a smile to everyone he meets, and the team wouldn’t be the same without him. His work with Blue Skies sees him at many events and he is always available when needed. I can’t sing his praises enough; he is a wonderful volunteer. – Catherine Henshaw, Voluntary services manager
Phil has been invaluable to me. He has been my right-hand man and I know I can rely on him. He will even go to events or cheque presentations on my behalf, and I know they will be in good hands. Phil puts so much effort in, even doing warmups for us at the Elf Run and he has a lovely manner with all our supporters.
