During the event, the topics discussed included the sales processes for selling businesses from a legal perspective, how you find a buyer for your business, corporate finance, common issues with businesses who are selling, the time periods that it takes to sell the business, and finding the right time to sell. The importance of the valuation of businesses before selling was also highlighted and how this effects the different business leaders sat in the room.
The consequences on exiting business coming out of the pandemic was discussed and the impact that the global pandemic has had on businesses and their requests when going through the process. Coming out of the pandemic the market is unknown due to inflation, interest rises however there are many more investors in the market now than before the pandemic.
Simon Mills, from Langtons, highlighted the importance of selling at the correct time for the business, business owner and the business future. Denise Walker, Glenville Walker, then proceeded to speak of how the business transitions from being sold and the changes that would be implemented from the buyer once this happens.
