The college repeated its success from the previous year in STEM subjects, with 100% pass rates in physics, chemistry, biology and further maths.
The college’s female students did particularly well, with 80% of all A and A* grades being achieved by girls studying its A Level courses.
One such student, Kajal Bissessur, 20, has achieved impressive results, which have earned her a place at Bradford University to study medicine and achieve her aspirations of becoming a surgeon.
Kajal moved to Liverpool from Italy at 16, after her parents encouraged her to seek a better education in the city. She began her career at The City of Liverpool College on a Level 1 course while studying for her science GCSE. She then went on to study for her full GCSEs, before taking a Level 3 course in biomedical science (equivalent to three A Levels). Today saw Kajal receive two distinctions and a merit, meaning that she has achieved more than the required results for her degree course.
On receiving her results, Kajal said:
“I’m so proud of everything I’ve achieved, and The City of Liverpool College has been a huge influence in helping me achieve these results and allow me to go on to study for my dream career.
“Despite coming from another country at such a young age, since being at the college I have felt incredibly welcomed and supported, with tutors guiding me each and every step of the way. Being here has taught me to be independent and strive for success, all the while knowing that I had somewhere to turn to if I needed help. Without them, I know that I wouldn’t have been able to achieve these results.

Students saw success in a number of creative subjects too, with 100% pass rates in English Language, English Literature, Film Studies and Media.

Hundreds of 16-18 year olds received their results at the college, which runs A-Level courses for both school leavers and adult learners.
