The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) will bring its annual conference to the venue in 2021 which will coincide with the opening of The Spine – the RCP’s new £35 million northern headquarters in Liverpool.

Professor Cheng-Hock Toh, academic vice-president of the RCP, said: “The RCP is marking its next 500 years of improving the practice of medicine with the opening of The Spine in 2021. This exciting development will bring RCP together with key players in the healthcare sector to forge a new dynamic to collectively address contemporary health issues. RCP will be at the heart of a new Knowledge Quarter – known as Paddington Village – in Liverpool. In addition to new events, a series of associations will return to ACC Liverpool including the British Oncology Pharmacy Association, returning for the second time next year, the College of Podiatry – returning in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) returning in May 2021 for the third time. The Museums Association and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will both take place in November 2021.
The European Eye Bank Association will bring delegates from across Europe in 2021 and will return to the UK for the first time in over 30 years after ambassadors from NHS Blood and Transplant bid for the event with the support of the venue and the city.
