The survey records the results from over 70 organisations involved in the majority of the UK’s Garden Community projects. It explores a range of planning, funding, delivery, stewardship, design and sustainability issues and solutions affecting the delivery of Garden Communities across the UK.
Attendees will gain an insight into the lessons learnt and trends for how new Garden communities are meeting the funding, delivery, design and net zero expectations of future populations. Discussion will focus around planning, delivery models, funding and recovery structures, as well as stewardship vehicle income streams, providing long-term sustainable management and maintenance for the new community.
The session will include a panel debate and Q&A session.
Our panel includes:
- Nick Pollock, Head of Planning at the Duchy of Cornwall which encompasses over 130,000 acres of land in 23 counties. Nick is involved in the planning, delivery and stewardship of Garden Communities such as the 4,000 home Nansledan scheme in Newquay, Cornwall and the planned 2,500 home Garden Village in Faversham in Kent. Nick has also recently been appointed to the Archbishops’ Commission on Housing, Church and Community examining how the Church of England can use its land and property holdings to build stronger communities and deliver more affordable housing.
- Julia Gregory, Director of Projects at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation. Julia heads up the delivery of the £275m Investment Plan of core infrastructure, housing and commercial development critical to the success of the Ebbsfleet Garden City and has over 30 years’ experience of delivering major infrastructure projects in both the public and private sector.
- Rebecca Rowley, a Land Assembly, Funding, Affordable Housing and Stewardship expert at Pinsent Masons who is advising on a number of Garden Communities at Ebbsfleet, Cornwall and Tewkesbury.
- Peter Feehan, an Energy, Utilities and Zero Carbon Delivery expert at Pinsent Masons who is advising on low carbon energy and sustainable water infrastructure for a range of Garden Communities, including those at Biggleswade, Cambridgeshire, Ebbsfleet and Cornwall.
- Matthew Fox, a planning and transport infrastructure specialist at Pinsent Masons, who is advising on Garden and Urban Communities at Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, Arden Cross and Guildford.
