Downtown in Business will host an exclusive parliamentary reception in association with Manchester City Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Westminster event will take place on Thursday 24th April 2025 at the stunning Terrace Pavilion at the House of Commons, between 1pm-5pm.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The event will focus on the importance of cities as drivers of economic growth.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Senior parliamentarians from Greater Manchester will be in attendance, along with cabinet and shadow cabinet Ministers.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There will be drinks and refreshments served before and after the presentations, with a good opportunity to meet and network with business leaders, MPs, and Lords from across the country.<\/p>\n

“Manchester’s growth has proven unstoppable over the past two decades, with the city comfortably retaining its position as the UK’s fastest growing city this year and forecast to continue outpacing the national growth rate in the coming years. It\u2019s the UK’s leading city outside London for attracting FDI, with sector strengths ranging from its \u00a35bn tech cluster to an advanced materials & manufacturing sector worth \u00a38bn GVA and the UK’s fastest growing FinTech sector worth \u00a31bn, and was recently ranked the UK’s most liveable city – boosted by ambitious plans to construct 36,000 new homes by 2032.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

This journey is a blueprint for the role bold and empowered cities can play in not only transforming their own fortunes and those of their residents, but in catalysing the national growth ambition – posing a clear opportunity for a government looking to drive growth and prosperity in all places, as well as other forward-thinking partners from across the public and private sectors.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n
